Freddy and Kate, who manage Collibra University, consider video as the most efficient format. It best simplifies technical content for learners with or without prior knowledge. But recording video comes with a number of challenges:

Untrained Cast: Chasing Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who were available and comfortable to present on camera was time-consuming.
Flexibility: Undergoing iteration rounds were highly inefficient. Files had to be sent around and feedback from SMEs came in Word docs with timestamps.
Hard to scale: Filming and production usually take weeks, it’s really hard to keep up with the pace of new Collibra releases.

Instructional designers and SMEs create a detailed Word doc, which is shared with Freddy and Kate.
Freddy and Kate turn the Word doc into a digestible script, upload it to Synthesia, pick an Avatar, add content to the scenes, and the video is ready for review.
SMEs leave comments in Synthesia and Freddy and Kate update all in one place – and voilà, the video is ready to upload to the LMS.
