# Adding a 'Generated by AI' watermark

Hi, do you add a watermark or something to indicate that the videos created in Synthesia have been generated by AI?

Hi Ed Shrager! We’ve started adding watermarks ahead of mandatory compliance (starting with course content in Synthesia Academy). Traditionally this has been accomplished via templates or on an ad hoc basis with media elements, but we’re actually working toward a built-in solution in Synthesia—relevant videos generated with Synthesia will carry C2PA-compliant provenance signals that mark them as AI-generated and trace them back to us as the source. We're also adding the option to apply clear visual labels and enforce their application across a given workspace where applicable!

These changes are set to go live at the end of this month, ahead of August 2nd enforcement of the EU AI Act :)
