## Add a Space to a Scene

1. Open your video in the Synthesia editor.
2. Add a new Avatar or select the avatar on your scene.
3. Navigate to the inspector panel and select **Add space** under the _Space_ section.
4. Browse the available environments in the catalog or use the search bar to find a specific one. Alternatively you can select a **Color** or **Gradient** for your space.

✍️ Not all avatars work the same way with Spaces. Regular Stock avatars always include a background and can't be made transparent. Some angled avatars have no background, but work best with a Color or Gradient rather than a Space. For a fully transparent, flexible background, you need a Synthetic Avatar.

## Usw a Space

1. When a Space is added, the avatar in the scene will be positioned within this.
2. You can further configure the Space by navigating to the inspector panel:
   - Crop the Space or adjust its appearance to **Fullscreen**, **Circle**, or **Box** in the _Appearance_ section.
   - Replace the **Avatar**.
   - Change the Space selected.
   - Change the **Opacity** or add a **Shadow** effect to a Space.
3. To remove a Space, select the cross icon in the Space section of the inspector. Alternatively, select the background and press the delete key on your keyboard. This will also delete the avatar.
