Create engaging training videos in 160+ languages.
When you're designing a training video, you have to make a lot of decisions. How many scenes should you have? What should your scenes look like? When should you incorporate interactivity into them? And so on.
Templates reduce the number of decisions you need to go from a learning outcome to a polished training video, quickly.
About 30% of all videos made on our platform are created with a template. While we have a library of over 250 options you can browse, I've curated 9 examples, organized by use case, to help you jumpstart your training video production.
How long should a training video be?
Each of these templates is concise by design. While not every training video needs to be a microlearning, I recommend keeping training videos under 8 minutes (that's still a LONG video). You can always create a series of videos, each 3-5 minutes in length, to cover more substantive topics.
Onboarding and orientation templates
1. Onboarding
Onboarding videos can range from welcome and company culture videos to overviews of career development and internal mobility. This template is designed for onboarding an employee to an internal portal. Try it out if you need to create a tool overview for your employees.
2. Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
An SOP training video walks an employee through a repeatable process. Use this template when you need to demonstrate a sequence of steps, and communicate the importance of doing so correctly.
3. Product demos
A product demonstration video can be internal or external facing (or sometimes both, depending on the situation). This template allows you to introduce your product, highlight key features or recent updates through media embeds, like videos, screenshots, or testimonials.
Compliance templates
4. Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity training videos are typically delivered on an annual basis or when an action is triggered (e.g., an employee joins a company or an incident requires retraining).
5. Data privacy
Data privacy is often part of a broader cybersecurity training program. In this template, you can see an example of how you can use multiple avatars to roleplay a scenario.
6. Health and safety
Health and safety can cover a range of topics from how to set up a home office ergonomically to how to safely work in a controlled environment.
Role performance templates
7. Sales enablement
Sales enablement videos cover everything from how to handle objections to product updates.
8. Customer service
Customer service training videos focus on interaction, decision-making, and operational capability.
9. Manager development
Manager development training videos cover core concepts, like how to run a 1-on-1 meeting, but also complex skills like navigating conflict on a team.
Any of these templates can be made interactive using our editor. Feel free to also modify other components to align with your brand guidelines.
Frequently asked questions
What is a training video template?
At Synthesia, templates are ready-to-use designs that allow you to focus more on the content than the structure of the video. They highlight product features, like b-roll, interactivity, and motion graphics, to inspire you when creating your own videos.
How do I choose the right training video template?
We have a library of over 250 templates. They're labeled by use case, which can be broad (e.g., Onboarding) or specific (e.g., Choosing the right investment plan). You don't have to choose a template based on the content. You can easily use a compliance template for another how-to topic.
Can I customize these templates?
Yes, everything is customizable from the script to the avatar (even their wardrobe) and font choices. Change out the background music or swap out the colors.
How long should a training video be?
There is no "right" length for training videos. They typically range from 60 seconds to 8 minutes, depending on the topic.
Do I need video production experience to use these templates?
Absolutely not. Any "editing" or "generating" you will be doing is structured, and can be mediated by our AI Assistant.
