L&D Conferences Worth Attending in 2026

Attending a conference can be a bit of an ordeal. First, you have to arrange the time off and your work responsibilities. And don't forget everything in your personal life, too.

Then, there's the whole rigmarole of attending the conference: downloading the apps (why is everything an app?) so you can sort through the schedule to find that everything you want to see is at overlapping times, and not to mention having to navigate the venues.

My point is that conferences are an investment. And I find they're most impactful when you go with a purpose and maybe a few colleagues or peers.

So I encourage you to carefully select where you invest your time and attention, preferably somewhere that will help you try something new, ask different questions, maybe take a risk. With that in mind, here's a snapshot of events for L&D folks to consider attending this year.

I’ve organized them by region and included a brief description in their own words. Not all of them are strictly L&D focused, and not all are traditional conferences.

Hopefully there’s something for you.

Note: This list was updated on June 1, 2026, so some events have passed. Nonetheless, these events tend to be annual affairs, so you can start planning for 2027 as locations and dates are finalized.

North America (NoAM)

• DevLearn Conference & Expo "North America's largest learning technologies event — the industry-leading event for professionals shaping the future of learning."

Note: I’m based in North America and tend to know these conferences the best because of my proximity to them. I hope to see you around.

Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA)

• Learning Technologies Conference & Exhibition "Europe's leading workplace learning event."

• ATD Middle East Conference "A regional and international platform for learning, talent development, and HR professionals, offering opportunities for knowledge sharing, networking, and professional growth."

• L&D Africa "A network of L&D professionals in Africa and beyond, bringing together African L&D practitioners and enthusiasts to engage, develop ideas and share common learnings."

Asia-Pacific (APAC)

• Education Korea "Asia's largest education and edtech event, leading the Korean education industry and trends since 2004."
• Asia L&D & Employer Branding Conference "The premier event in Asia dedicated to advancing the fields of Learning & Development and Employer Branding, bringing together thought leaders and innovators to explore the evolving landscape of workplace learning."
• People Matters TechHR "Asia's largest HR & Work Tech conference."
• EduTECH "The largest education event in Asia-Pac and the Southern Hemisphere."

Note: I don't make it out to APAC as much as I used to for work, but there are great conversations to be had in these events.

From experience

This list isn't exhaustive (if it were, you'd be exhausted getting through it). Personally, I find the "best" conferences for any industry to be entirely subjective. It depends on what your role looks like and the industry you're in. It also depends very much on the logistics of the conference, like how much it costs to attend and where it's held.

Honestly, I find some conferences overwhelming and overstimulating. That's why I gravitate towards more intimate events where I can have deeper conversations.

So do what works best for you and your circumstances. This is just a list, nothing more.
